Build Back Better, Embracing better living – powered by PechaKucha
Mon 10th August 2020
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Build Back Better is a new initiative by New London Architecture to respond to the current crisis. The series looks into the future, beyond the restrictions of our present situation. We invite innovative thinkers to present thought-provoking ideas and solutions for a resilient post-pandemic London.
This Build Back Better event will discuss ideas for living that aid physical and mental health, from homes for heroes and key worker housing to communal dwellings that improve wellbeing.
Our Senior Project Advisor, Rowan Mackay, was invited by the NLA to speak at this PechaKucha event to illustrate how community led housing can achieve these goals to offer innovative solutions for these uncertain times. Our talk is entitled ‘People Powered Homes: A Manifesto’.
Join us at the event to find out more. If you are an NLA member, you can book your place at this free event by visiting their website here. The webinar will be hosted on Zoom and joining details will be sent to registered participants.
The format, PechaKucha (ペチャクチャ), was devised in Tokyo in 2003 by the English architect Mark Dytham and has turned into a massive global celebration of design, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. The format makes presentations concise, keeps things moving at a rapid pace and holds its audience.
