The Community-led housing London Hub is supported by the Mayor of London and several London Boroughs, and is hosted by CDS Co-operatives.
We provide community groups and organisations with information and advice, capacity building, and technical support. We also help councils, landowners, housing associations, developers, funders and lenders with practical advice, and establish relationships with community organisations.
Vision and Values
The hub aims to significantly boost the delivery of community-led housing in London by addressing barriers to growth and making the most of existing resources, skills, and experience. We are rooted in values that reflect community led housing, and as such our work will be based on: collaboration, communication and openness, efficient delivery, and shared learning.
The hub is overseen by a Steering Group including the National CLT Network, the UK Cohousing Network, and the Confederation of Co-operative Housing, as well as representatives from the GLA, CDS Co-operatives, and London CLT.
The hub is initially funded by the Mayor of London and several London boroughs, and is hosted by CDS at its offices in Borough. In the longer term, the aim is to become a self-sustaining resource for London. So we will be asking successful schemes to return our support so we can continue to help new schemes.
How we’ll measure success
Community-Led Housing London is a collaborative venture which will evolve to meet the changing needs of the sector. However key measures of success include:
- A significant increase in community led housing starts through access to land and funding.
- Positive feedback and shared learning from key stakeholders about the hub as a resource leading to faster, cheaper and more reliable delivery.
- Wider awareness, interest, and support for community-led housing amongst Londoners.
